Hello, I,wanted to intrduce myself, I am not originally from Ky. I moved here in 2007,I am prior Federal Law Enforcement, Disabled Veteran, and currentlly work at a National Cemetery, Which is why I am on here. Everyday I conducted services for veterans, and everyday I see on television, read in the paper or hear on the radio about the direction this country is going, our freedoms are slowly going away and my brothers in arms that fought for those rights are being disgraced as far as I am concerned. I am or was a registered Democrate. I am very strong in my convictions and neither the Republicans nor Democrates represent me either locally or nationally. Drugs are rampant in my area and it seems no-one is doing anything about it. I cant run for office because of the good ole boys here I would never win,if i had a chance of winning I surely would run.The slogan for last years campian was change, now it should be stop the change.
Ok I guess I have rambled enough, My Question is: what can I do? or how do I go about running for office where I am an outsider?

Where do you live in town? Our city council members are elected by voting district and several of the districts currently have no representatives... should you live in one of those areas and be interested in such positions, the vacancies are filled by mayoral appointment. That could be one way to go.
We have no elections here until 2010 - Plenty of time to kiss hands and shake babies... Make contacts. They're everything as you can tell. The Good Ol' Boy network here isn't as bad as most people believe, but there is, of course, nepotism. Get that roadblock out of your head and, if you don't have other hindrances, you stand some chance of success.
Do you have other qualifications that might put you in the running for appointed or specialty positions where you're up against a narrower field?
Lots of stuff to think about.
