An independent candidate has entered the race for the 18th Kentucky Senate District. I spoke with this candidate this morning. He's an interesting guy who seems committed to making Kentucky better.

Guy E. Gibbons Jr. of Argillite, KY
status as candidate:
* turned in 116 signatures, started collecting signatures on friday, turned in on monday (he was shocked to find out the D's and R's only needed 2 signatures)
* will be on the ballot by name according to SoS office, not just a write-in
* primary issues: deficit in state budget, state workers pension fund
* "not for gambling unless its on a ballot. We need to get back to government by the people."
